History

Founded 1887 as Dublin Institute of Technology (Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Átha Cliath) (DIT). Acquired current title and status as Ireland's first technological university in 2019 after merging with two other institutes of technology in the Dublin area, the Institute of Technology Blanchardstown (Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Baile Bhlainséir) (ITB) and the Institute of Technology Tallaght (Institiúid Teicneolaíochta Tamhlacht)
