Created 1983 as a postgraduate maritime university under the United Nations, founded by the International Maritime Organization (IMO) as its premier institution for maritime postgraduate education, research, and capacity building. Not a part of the Swedish education system

Academic Year

September-December - semester 1: foundation studies; January-August - semester 2: specialisation; September-December - semester 3: students have a choice from a range of electives

Admission Requirements

a Master’s degree in a relevant discipline, or an equivalent university qualification; competence in English language, demonstrated by an internationally recognised standard test; computer competence; English language test result: Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL): 96+ in the internet-based test, 590+ in the paper-based test International English Language Testing System (IELTS): band 7.0 or above. Cambridge Examinations: Cambridge Proficiency Examination at grade A or B
GCE O-level or the equivalent: a good pass grade

National:15,000; field study programmes 2,500 (EUR)
