Founded in 1910 as Norwegian Institute of Technology. Part of University of Trondheim in 1968. Merger in 1996 including the College of Arts and Science, and the Natural History and Archaeology Museum. Merged with Høgskolen i Ålesund (Ålesund University College), Høgskolen i Gjøvik (Gjøvik University College) and Høgskolen i Sør-Trøndelag (Sør-Trøndelag University College) in 2016
