History

Founded 1948 as Ryerson Institute of Technology, became Ryerson Polytechnic Institute 1963 and Ryerson University in 1993. Ryerson combines a traditional focus on theory with career-oriented emphasis on applicable skills-through laboratory work, field trips, outside projects, work experience, internships, regular contact with business and industry and work experience in the professional community. The University became Toronto Metropolitan University in 2022.
