History

Founded 1850 as School of Law, became Centre universitaire des Antilles-Guyane 1949. Became Université des Antilles et de la Guyane (University of the West Indies and Guiana) 1982. Acquired present title resulting from the transformation of the University of the West Indies and Guiana, 2015. The University has two regional university centers, one in Guadeloupe and the other in Martinique.
