Founded 1976 as four Kingston-based Schools of Visual Arts, Music, Dance and Drama, that were brought together in 1976 under the aegis of the Cultural Training Centre. Identified by UNESCO as pivotal institutions in the Caribbean 1979. Designated as the Inter-American Centre for Caribbean Cultural Development by the Organization of American State (OAS) 1983. Acquired current title following consolidation of the four schools
